Day 2: Explore Your DREAMS

A quick 15-minute activity to familiarize yourself with the DREAMS framework and cards.

In this second tutorial, you will learn how to use the DREAMS cards to explore your own ideas.

What to print:

Print the A4 sheets from tutorial-day2.pdf (in the Tutorial folder of your Starter Kit)

1. Pick Your Task

Choose one concrete task you do regularly.

Example tasks:
  • Creating lesson plans
  • Writing documentation
  • Preparing presentations
Pick something you'll do in the next week - this makes the exercise immediately useful!

2. Quick Card Tour

Lay out all DREAMS cards in front of you

  • Lay out all DREAMS cards in front of you
  • Read each card's title and key question
Resist the urge to understand everything - just get an overview.

3. Speed Storming

For each card (1 minute per card):

  • Read the reflection questions in the back of the card
  • Quickly write one way you could use this AI capability for your task
  • Move to next card
Example: If your task is "Creating a Training Session Outline", you might write:
  • Diverge: Generate 5 different workshop structures
  • Review: Check if outline covers all learning objectives
  • Edit: Simplify complex explanations
  • Analyze: Find patterns in successful past sessions
  • Morph: Convert outline into participant handouts
  • Search: Find relevant examples and exercises
Set a timer for each card - keep moving even if ideas aren't perfect

4. Combo Challenge

  • Pick two DREAMS cards
  • Try combining them for your task
  • Write down how they could work together
For the Training Session Outline task: Diverge + Review = Generate multiple outlines, then use AI to review each against learning objectives and timing constraints

5. Reflect as a Trainer

  • Think about how the DREAMS cards help participants explore AI beyond just text generation
  • Notice how flipping each card creates a moment of discovery. Only cards can do this! How might this physical interaction enhance learning?
